Payroll and Benefits

We are pleased to offer our employees one of the most comprehensive benefits packages available in the barbering industry. We are a local company that is owned by barbers, so we understand what it is like to stand behind the chair! In addition to great pay, there are no late evening or early morning hours and we offer a fun, relaxed environment!  The following benefits are offered to full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week:

COMPENSATION

The following statement applies to barbers.  If you have joined us as a manager or receptionist, your pay will be the hourly wage or salary discussed with you at the time you interviewed.  American Haircuts offers pay that is very competitive. Our prices are generally higher than the competition with suburban store prices between $28 and $36 and in town stores between $32 and $40. Commission rate is 48% on all services and 10%-20% on retail sales. We provide everything you need, except your own tools and there are no “shop charges.”  Commission is based on actual revenue charged for services (total price, minus any discounts offered).

PAID TIME OFF

We also offer paid time off on the following schedule to full-time employees: One week after one year at $12.00 per hour, two weeks after two years at $13.50 per hour, and three weeks after five or more years at $15.00 per hour.  PTO is based on the schedule you are assigned as of the roll-over date of January 1st.  So, for example, if you are scheduled 35 hours per week, you are eligible for 35 hours of paid time off.   PTO re-sets each January 1st and is offered on a use-or-lose basis.  PTO time must be used before the roll-over date of January 1st.

SUPPLEMENTAL BENEFITS (AVAILABLE AFTER 90 DAYS)

All full-time employees (30+ hours per week) are eligible for supplemental dental, vision, disability, and life insurance through Colonial and Principal at employee expense.. You will receive an email from Employee Navigator to accept/decline coverages.

RETIREMENT (AVAILABLE AFTER 90 DAYS)

American Haircuts is pleased to offer a simple 401(k) plan to every employee. There is no limit to what you can contribute. You will receive an email from Edward Jones to sign up.
